Student Alumni and Achievers
Jessica with our Textiles Teacher, Jacki Smith
Jessica Tai (2025) | We are proud to highlight Jessica Tai, a 2025 graduate making impressive strides in both fashion and engineering. Jessica is currently pursuing a Mechanical Engineering degree at the University of Sydney, supported by an Undergraduate Engineering Merit Scholarship.
Her passion for fashion began early with sewing, culminating in a standout HSC Textiles Major Work project that balanced creative design with engineering challenges. Jessica’s innovative piece, Immortality, inspired by Chinese-Buddhist themes and designer Iris van Herpen, earned her the Innovation Award for Directional Design and Innovative Use of Textiles at the 2026 SHAPE showcase—an event featuring just 57 of 11,600 HSC candidates.
As part of this honour, Jessica will attend a Sydney Fashion Week runway event this May. She credits Lindfield’s supportive community for her growth and says she would choose our school again without hesitation.
Congratulations to Jessica on this well-deserved recognition. We look forward to her continued success at the exciting intersection of engineering and design!
