Uniform
At Lindfield College, we currently offer an optional school uniform which can be purchased and worn in combination with a student’s non-uniform clothes. A compulsory uniform is being phased in - stay tuned for exciting developments
In 2026, Lindfield College is reviewing its Uniform Policy and processes. We currently have an optional school uniform at Lindfield College. Students may choose to wear all, some, or none of the uniform items. If students choose not to wear our uniform items, then they may wear comfortable and appropriate clothes of their choice.
Life requires us to make choices according to different contexts and situations. Different settings and activities require different dress codes. Our vision allows for students to respond to these situations and learn to make appropriate choices.
If students choose not to wear the uniform, please make sure that clothing choices are appropriate, comfortable and safe for all school activities by adhering to the Lindfield College Dress Code (see below).
Students will regularly have opportunities to visit our beautiful neighbouring Lane Cove National Park as part of their learning. Students will also frequently engage in learning activities including science experiments, cooking and art (which can get messy!). Therefore, to always ensure safety, footwear should be enclosed and flat (no slippers or ug boots). Shoulders, midriffs and short/skirt length should be safe in terms of sun safety and child protection. This means no spaghetti straps, no crop tops, no shorts or skirts above mid thigh level.
Lindfield College Dress Code
Purpose
- Assists teachers in responding to the Dress Code to ensure safe and appropriate participation in all learning environments
- Supporting the wellbeing and safety of students and staff to ensure that we all thrive in the learning environment
- Support staff to meet the legislative requirements of the NSW Department of Education
What is the Lindfield College Dress Code?
The Department of Education stipulates that the clothing students wear to school must:
- Encourage physical activity
- Allow for gender expression
- Be appropriate for a variety of learning
- Meet sun safety requirements
- Meet child protection requirements
To ensure that we are meeting these requirements:
- footwear must be enclosed and flat (no slippers or ug boots)
- shoulders, midriffs and short/skirt length should be safe in terms of sun safety and child protection
- clothing should be neat, clean and tidy and in good repair
- shirts should cover the torso and shoulders
- shorts and skirts should cover mid-thigh
- offensive slogans and advertising of inappropriate or illegal products is not permitted
Hats and sunglasses are strongly recommended for secondary students when outside. Primary students must have appropriate sun safe wear, including a hat, when outside.
What is the role of….
Students: To choose clothing for school that meets the dress code.
Parents: To support and oversee clothing choices of students and to monitor for communications from the school informing of non-compliance.
Teachers: To respond appropriately, fairly and consistently to instances of non-compliance with the dress code.
School: To support families to meet the requirements of the Dress Code
What happens if the Dress Code is not met?
Step 1: Teachers can engage in a Collaborative and Proactive Solutions (CPS) conversation with students.
Step 2: If dress code is not met continuously (3 times) teachers are to notify their Head Teacher.
Step 3: If Head Teachers are notified, Head Teachers are to contact parents via phone call. Follow up conversations and supports provided to students.
Step 4: If dress code continues to be unmet, Head Teachers will consult with the Deputy Principal for appropriate next steps, which may include parent meetings.
